Turin, 29 July 2025 – The EVOQUE consortium convened for its 19-month General Assembly on 28–29 July 2025 in Turin, Italy, hosted by Università degli Studi di Torino. The two-day meeting was a key moment for all partners to review technical progress and align plans for the final phase of the project, focused on system integration, field trials, and market exploitation.
This meeting followed a successful first Periodic Review with the European Commission, held on 2 July 2025, where the project received positive feedback on its technical innovation and coordination. The consortium also finalised a Post-Review Action Plan, addressing strategic recommendations to ensure high impact delivery in the remaining months.

A Photonic Leap in VOC Detection
EVOQUE is building a compact, next-generation VOC analyzer that combines Gas Chromatography (GC) with Quartz-Enhanced Photoacoustic Spectroscopy (QEPAS), Quantum Cascade Lasers (QCLs), and mid-IR metasurfaces. The system aims to bring lab-level precision to on-line, at-line, and portable VOC detection across sectors such as agriculture, food safety, environmental monitoring, and industrial emissions.
During the M19 meeting, partners reported progress on:
- GC-QEPAS integration and system performance
- Laser and metasurface component development
- VOC spectral databases and detection algorithms
- Use-case planning across key application areas

Additionally, updated flyers, stickers, and roll-up banners were made available to partners to support dissemination and outreach activities.
Looking Ahead: From Lab to Field
With the project entering its second and final phase, the consortium is now focused on:
- System-level integration of the GC-QEPAS platform
- Pilot testing in representative field environments
- Exploitation and stakeholder engagement, preparing for market-oriented deployment
Public demonstrator showcases and exploitation workshops are being planned for Q3/Q4 2026, aiming to position EVOQUE as a key enabler of sustainable, data-driven monitoring practices across Europe.
